I think there was a lot more testing on the desktop protocols. Back
in 96 many calls were SNA, IPX and even quite a bit of Appletalk. I see
little of that now. There was no DLSW yet, ATM was just coming into use
and frame relay point-to-point interfaces were fairly new. I think the
lab IOS was 10.0 - 10.3 and they had a stack of manuals to use, no CD's
or CCO which was CSO at that time. There was one lab in San Jose. EIGRP
was pretty flaky and there were about 25K routes on the Internet:)
The one constant was the failure rate was bout 80% and it was a
(inject word for female dog:)
