The default is to send one packet when pinging a multicast address. When
you did the extended ping, you said to send three ping packets.

If you want to know if it was successfully or not, remove the join command
and look at the output of the pings.

Can someone explain this.

I have configured a join-igmp group on ethernet interface, and now trying to
ping this from the RP itself. First I did the regular ping, and then
extended
ping. When I do the regular ping, I get the 0 reply, but went I do the
extending ping I get a respone 0, 1, 2.

Are my pings successfull?

Kindly Explain please.
