RTP and San Jose each have good "theme songs" you can hum as you travel to
your destination. San Jose's could be "Do you know the way to San Jose?"
RTP's could be "In my mind I'm gone to Carolina" which I sang sometimes in
preparation for my two Lab attempts (and perhaps also for my trip to NC
State to use their CCIE rental lab for five days).
I am a BIG fan of Raleigh-Durham, because it is easy driving distance from
Fredericksburg, Virginia, where I live. When I found out early on that
there was a Lab Exam location in RTP, that made the CCIE seem that much more
doable for me.

> There were at one time differences in the lab locations, as far as what
was tested. The last few years though, all tests are the same at all
locations. One test location should be no more or no less difficult than
any other. Having said that, the human element is still involved. One
advantage of RTP is that it's real cheap to stay there and the traffic in
the area is not bad at all. San Jose is real expensive, from what I hear.
As far as the proctors, I've only been to RTP. With the exception of one
young proctor who was real arrogant (and no longer there), they've all been
real professional and helpful.
