This can be changed. As long as Cisco gets the permission of your previous
employer, then you can get it moved immediately. It's just a policy put in
place to prevent corporate CCIE "raiding". :)

They way a read it, if you are terminated, you take your number with you. If
you leave on a voluntary basis, your previous employer/Cisco partner keeps
YOUR number for 12 months..... =(
