Tyson,
Are you referring to a "tunneled VLAN" environment? Then it's a
different story - my assumption was that you were talking about a single
VLAN domain, not tunneled VLANs.

Subject: RE: cat3550 vlan question: ipexpert manual
Actually,
There was a really good email floating around over the last two
days asking about the 2950's because they don't support the tagging of
the native vlan with 802.1q, they don't support 802.1q tunneling. Two
days ago someone was asking about this and Brian McGahan replied with
this information. The person that was asking the question stated he was
using the 6500's Firewall Service Module and he could not pass VLAN 1
through it without having it tagged in his setup. There are Design
reasons to do it but I don't think I know them all besides what I have
listed above. Any one want to comment on other scenarios in which it
may be needed?

Tyson,
Maybe away from the original question but do you know when it is
preferrable to tag or untag the native VLAN traffic ?
Consider this as a design question rather than a lab question.
