So this morning I decide to enable mobile IP on a LAN at work to help
a customer get around a rather serious traffic issue.
I go on to the router and make the following changes:
interface f 0/0
ip mobile arp
router ospf 1
redistribute mobile subnets
And yet for the life of me I cannot see the corresponding route on the
OSPF neighbors.
It turns out that the problem is actually an old
summary-address x.y.z.0 255.255.224.0
which we had enabled on the router for our entire /19 (this is for something
going way back to the days when I didn't understand OSPF as well and this
network was part of something else).
So my tip is:
If you're having problems getting to see redistibuted routes in OSPF make
sure you've not broken things by summarising unneccessarily when redistributing
into OSPF,
Thomas
