Not completely sure what your asking so this may be wrong. You can assign a
number higher then 300, but you can't have more than a total of 300
interfaces. This would also include virtual interfaces. You can use the
command show idb to see what your box supports and what is in use. This
limitation varies by hardware and IOS platforms.
