3550 OSPF MTU Size

Classic 3550 mtu size mismatch with ospf hellos.

Question - The solution showed `ip ospf mtu-ignore`

But instead I just matched the correct mtu size on the vlan interface
going to my ospf neighbors.

interface Vlan904
 ip address 136.10.56.10 255.255.255.240
 ip mtu 1500
 ip ospf priority 0

Neighbor ID Pri State Dead Time Address
Interface
136.10.5.5 255 FULL/BDR 00:00:32 136.10.56.5
Vlan904
136.10.6.6 1 FULL/DR 00:00:37 136.10.56.6
Vlan904

Does this affect anything else on the switch? I'm thinking shouldn't
effect trunking, etc; since the system mtu is still showing in the
config as the standard 3550 value.

spanning-tree extend system-id
system mtu 1504

Any cons or benefits to my direct solution?

Thanks for your time in advance,

Michael
