Zack,

This is how i have understood the paper u sent.

The clients can communicate to the host via 2 paths - via 2 routers Avi
and Turbo.By default the lower priority path is going to be used. Since 2
paths are available u want to load balance and also have redundancy for
the traffic such that one router fails other is used.

By using the dlsw transparent redundancy-enable 9999.9999.9999
master-priority 10 the Avi router has become the master and turbo the
slave.

dlsw transparent map local-mac 0000.6666.0000 remote-mac 0200.eca2.0000
neighbor 0000.5555.0000 <-- by using this command they are mapping the
actual MAC address to the dest host address via the next router.

Its confusing bcoz of the cann and non-cann address. Try to write down
the Cann and non-cann address of each device in the setup and then try
to interpret the commands.

Maybe the last example Fig 7. of this paper would be helpful.Similiar
example:

Let me know if this helps in any way.

Good Luck,
Kasturi.
