Karma? The debugs I did in my example were from the server end. Which
would be interesting for you to look at as well. Because maybe this is just
a reference thing where the client still posts the same information even
though it has completely changed how it's being sent.

How did you get away with short client-id's?
R5 is requesting the 3550 swithch fora an address.
After initialy configuring ip address dhcp client-id f 0/0 the router is
still using the long client-id Note that R5 is sending
"cisco-000a.417a.9ba0-Fa0/0" but when it comes to the switch it is somewhat
longer...
