Use delete /r /f flash:"file-name"
The original image has the html directories for web management and you'll
notice that the actual IOS is buried inside the directory structure.

It is running i5, not i9. The model number shows 3500-SMI, however.
Very curious. You erased the flash - by flash /all? I cannot get rid
of the existing image for some reason.
