IS-IS is a great protocol. It is seeing a wide resurgence in popularity due
mostly to its ability to deal with ipv6. I've actually seen a number of
OSPF to IS-IS migrations lately. Of course, this is all in service
provider, but who knows, some IS-IS enterprises just might show up. Plus,
its a good link state protocol and learning it will help you understand
routing and OSPF in particular a little better.
