I am having problems understanding where/when to configure route
reflectors. The command is pretty basic to actually configure it. My
problem when and how to use it. Everything I've read pretty much refers
to using RR's for reflecting routes learned through eBGP to other iBGP
peers. Isn't this true for iBGP too. In other words a route won't get
propagated through an iBGP network whether it's learned through eBGP or
a network somewhere in the iBGP. Is this true?
I have a lab with this scenario in a lab
R1---R2---R3---R4
This is an iBGP scenario with the peering just like it shows. R1 to R2,
R2 to R1&R3, R3 to R2&R4 and R4 to R3. AS200.
If I create a loopback interface on R4 with say IP add 4.4.4.4 and add
the network 4.4.4.0 statement under bgp, I will see the network on R3
when I do sh ip bgp, but not on R2 or R1. Expected behavior right?
So where would I set up my RR's? What if I want a net on R1 to get to
R4? What if I want an eBGP route from eBGP peer with R4 to get to R1.
I have been able to do a couple different things to get it to work, but
I guess I am looking for what would be the best or more correct way.
Thanks,
Steve
