John,

        IP by itself does not provide reliable transport. Therefore if you
use FST (IP only) DLSw+ encapsulation there will be no reliable transport.
This also implies that acknowledgement traffic is sent end-to-end.

        Note that IP on its own does not to resequencing, so if there are
multiple routes through the network all out of order packets received by the
destination will be dropped.
