CCIE lab attempt 1 - missed it by *that* much!

Hi Guys!

Well, I sat my exam in Brussels last Friday. It was a pretty intense
experience, going in and not knowing what exactly to expect. Eight hours
long, and going like mad the whole time. Must have drunk about 8 cokes (they
were free.... heh heh, although the lunch left a bit to be desired...
sandwiches... mmmm... lecker!). The first half went fairly smooth, nice
topology, no loops, ping from all over to everywhere else.. no drama, but the
second half had some tricky bits and I ended up running out of time. I
thought I was just under or just over the line... but seems I was just under
this time. In the end i tripped up on the stuff I understood, but didnt know
100%. Oh well, will go for it again at the end of June again. Nearly had a
burn out this time around. Was way intense, and too many hours crammed into
too little time. My body ended up rebeling and givin me a hard time in the
end... heh heh. So, next time I will just take it a bit easier. Probably
wasnt a good idea to start my MBA and try the CCIE at the same time... heh heh
he...groan..
Oh well, I know the format too this time, and what they are looking for. Have
to know how to do everything 3 ways, and then maybe throw in a fourth, with a
bit of tinkering.

Was a bit of a bummer not getting over the line, but would be silly if i gave
up now. Its like climbing Mount Everest and stopping because the snow storm
stopped you from getting to the peak on the first attempt. So, will just
study a bit more, muster the knowledge, and practice, and have another go at
that little bugger! :)
The only hard thing is not knowing what the real answers for the questions
were. If i was right or wrong, heading in the right direction or totally off
base... fscking NDA.... heh heh

Thanks to a couple of fellas so far, for helping me get this far. Iwan in the
netherlands (helped me out by asking questions, so I had to learn the stuff
better to explain it), Tony Schaffran (I've had a good time with a great
quality rack there at CCOnline, and great service), All the guys in
Groupstudy, Christian at work (he has a fascination with what level each
routing protocol lives on, and asks the damndest questions, which gets me
thinking) and my bosses for giving me the time to persue this.

Ok fellas, I'm off for three weeks holiday in Australia to visit the rellies
and the rugrats, kill off a few brain cells with some Aussie beer, and then
back to the books! Look forward to chatting with you all next year!

Happy Christmas (or insert holiday without/without religious importance of
your choice here) and a super new year!
