Hi, group,
It is my first post asking questions, hope it is not too stupid.
Reading the document of 3550, I think the command 'switchport block
unicast/multicast' is to filter packets if their mac addresses are unknow to
the switch. My question is the traffic to be blocked is outbound to the
interface or inbound?
I believe it is outbound (flooding to) from the switch itself (of course it
comes from some other interface of the switch) to the interface. Because I
found this command being used in the topic of 'protected port' in 3550
document.
However, I also found in some senarios, people use it to block unicast from
the interface which makes me really confused. I tried to test it, but I do
not know how.
Thanks a lot for your help.
