RE: VMPS file name

Hi,

Isn't the 3500 a vmps client switch only? I think that Vasman's point is that the 3500 can only point to a vmps server switch (4k or better running CAT-OS, I think). The vmps server switch can store the database file locally or snag it from a tftp server. You simply can't store the vmps database on a 3500 (as far as I know (until cisco releases the feature)).

On my 3550 catalyst switch I can only configure the IP address of the VMPS
server. Look below:

Cat3550(config)#vmps ?
  reconfirm Set VMPS reconfirm interval
  retry Set VMPS retry count
  server Configure server IP address

Cat3550(config)#vmps

switch. On a VMPS client switch, you would just configure the IP address of
the VMPS server switch. 10.100.20.69 is the TFTP server.
