It was finally my day in San Jose yesterday.
I am embarrassed to say this, but it was my 6th trip to the lab.
Hopefully my admitting it to this esteemed group of peers will offer
encouragement to those out there who are in the same boat I was in. Up
until this attempt, I had self studied. I have my own rack, lab scenario
subscriptions, and shelves of books. All of which have been read, the
good ones more than once. This list has also been a tremendous source of
information on technologies relative to the exam and real world. I have
been more of lurker on the list, gleaning information as Sarju elegently
said, from Scott, the Brians, Howard, and all of you. I thank you all
for your willingness to share your knowledge and experience.
After my 5th attempt, I made a decision based on positive postings to
this list. I personally forked out the funds, took vacation time off,
and flew to Chicago to take 80 hours of training at CyscoExpert's
bootcamp. This was the best decision I made and really wish I had done
this before wasting so many personally financed trips to San Jose. It
would have saved me thousands of dollars in lab fees, air fare, etc.
These guys found my weak spots, drove me, and helped me fill in the
blanks. It was good to have someone to bounce ideas off of and review my
work. I really feel these guys were the ones that pushed me over the
top.
Anyway, enough about that.....now to spend some quality time with my
family, go to the library and get a book that doesn't say Cisco on it,
and enjoy the holidays. Its going to get quiet around here for a while
without the fans humming in the background =). But not for long......
Thanks to all,
Mike Nygard CCIE #12602 =)
