What is Cisco's policy on downloading software? I once read that you can
use software for evaluation purposes. Is this correct?

I downloaded the Call Manager Express & was able to get it going on a 3640 with an NM 16ESW card & one 7940 IP phone. It's kind of interesting, if your interested in IP phone stuff.

    Ken,

CallManager Express runs on 1750-Vs, 2600XMs, 3600s, or 3700s and you will
probably have to max out the memory. As far as a Callmanager Demo, there is
a simulator that comes with the Cisco Press book that talks about developing
XML services for IP Phones, I not sure of the functionality however.

      Hi,

Cisco released Call Manager Express. It runs on routers. I'm not sure
what the specs for the router must be but you can check it out on CCO.

As far as I know, Call Manager on Windows only runs on the Cisco

    proprietary

box which is manufactured by Compaq. I have heard that you can do some
registry hacks on a regular Win 2000 Server and it will run. Not sure

    what

those are. Also not sure about linux.

        Hi Guys,

Playing around with IP Phones currently.

Anyone know where I could get a copy of Cisco Call Manager software (any
demo/real version) for my test lab. If this is allowed. It would not

    run

        on any production network.

I only have WinNT/Win2k/Linux platforms so it needs to run on them. Pref
windows as my Linux Admin is not very good.

        Many thx indeed,
        Ken
