All,

In TCP/IP Vol 1 Jeff Doyle says ( page 730 ):

Routes may be redistributed into IS-IS as either internal or external routes
and as either level 1 or level 2 routes. He says that the only difference
between redistributing route into ISIS as external rather than internal (
default for redistributed routes is internal level2 ) is that the metrics
of the redistributed routes have increased to higher than 64.

I have two questions:

1- How route metric is calculated while route is redistributred as external
level2 ?

In Doyle's scenario metirc of the route changed from being 10 ( incase of
internal level2 redistribution ) to be 138 ( incase of external level ).

2- How to know from the routing table of ISIS routes that this is an
internal or external route ? There is no O EX like OSPF here.
