I just moved my lab equipment from the family room into the storage room and
set up a wireless wireless bridge to it. I love not hearing the fan noise
and wish I had done it earlier. This might not be such a problem if I only
had 2500s, but 4500s are very loud, and the 3550 switch is not quiet.
I am using 2 D-Link DWL-900AP+ units set up to bridge with each other. A
very cost effective solution. If you try to do this, watch out that your
units are compatible for this bridging function. The DWL-900AP is not even
compatible with the DWL-900AP+ for bridging purposes.
I feel particularly silly because I have had wireless networking otherwise
for a year and a half, but never took this next step.
Sincerely,
Tom Larus, CCIE #10,014
