I met Halabi briefly a couple of years ago, seemed like a nice guy...but I have a comment related to Doyle. I never knew him, but he was with the late great company INS. I had the privilege to be with International Network Services from 1997-2000 and it was the best experience (so far) of my professional life. I worked first in the Minneapolis office, later in Dallas, and I have never known such an extraordinary group of people. I left when the company was bought by Lucent and things began to change radically, but I know they have become independent again and who knows? maybe they will approach what they once were.

I don't know where Sam Halabi works these days, but he is no longer
at Cisco. I understand he was a senior support engineer in Network
Supported Accounts, focused on carriers. I think I've seen his name
on NANOG rosters, but I don't remember him writing anything for the
IETF IDR Working Group (which is responsible for BGP).
