try putting the "flash ide card into a laptop's pcmcia slot - should appear
as a disk device, just copy the file over....
3com's 3cdeamon doesn't work over 32Mb - I've just tried it.

I know someone that had the same problem and they used ftp to get big images
on to router flashes...
