Well that would be tricky....depending on exactly what the requirements are. For the most part when I see something
Like that, I would normally remove the dialer map or dialer string statement from the router that will not be doing
any calling.
For Clarification: On the production network I work on now, my customer has a multiple scenarios where there are large collocated hub routers
/w Primary high/low speed WAN links to the smaller site routers as well as backup ISDN links to all of these smaller site routers. The only time we use the ISDN link to the smaller site router, is when one of the links goes down and the site is isolated. -But there is no dialer map nor dial strings
On the smaller site routers isdn or dialer interfaces we also put descriptions on those interfaces for dial in only). We would initiate the call from
the large colo routers bringing up the ISDN, temporary restoring network connectivity. Note- this was the network designers preference at the time
-would not be my first choice...I would rather use backup interface or dialer watch, but if the router is NEVER supposed to dial the other router
Remove those parameters.
In essence, this establishes a dynamic map on the smaller site router...but I have seen wired T releases that it doesn't work on, -when there is no
dialer map on the smaller site router. For the most part -this should work well. Put the dialer map on one side, bring the link up and you will see
What I'm talking about.
I hope that was clear enough, sometimes I tend to hodge podge on details...

Subject: One way dailing
Hi, Group,
When I am required to dial one way only, do I need to configure dial map on the dialled side, do I need to configure dail-list as well? As I remember, dial-list is used to define the interesting traffic to make calls. So when one way calling is required, defining interesting traffic and configuring dial map would not be necessary. Am I correct? Thank you very much.
