Dear all,

Questions about Voice VLAN again.

1) I think we are not required to set the access port connected to
the IP phone as trunking, coz a special trunk will be set up by
DTP and CDP. No matter what the setting of the access port is
dynamic, access, or trunking, the special trunk will be created.
Is it correct? Moreover, if I explicitly configure the port as
trunking, what will happen if the IP Phone is not connected to
the port (is it an incompatible setting?). Is it recommended not
to configured the port as explicit trunk, but let the neogotiation
   as a special trunk?

2) The command used to set up a Voice VLAN is (switchport voice vlan
   {dot1p | <vlan_id> | untagged | none}). Except the setting is none
the special trunk will be negotiated. The difference between dot1p
and untagged is dot1p is tagged using VLAN0, but untagged is not
tagged but using VLAN4095. The question is the untagged is still a
dot1q frame but if the VLAN field is 4095, then the switch will
regard the frame as untagged. Is it correct?

Best Regards,
William Chen
