From what I can gather, The latest version is an
integrated IOS image for all models of the Catalyst 2950 Series switches.
When downloaded, this image will recognize the hardware and enable the
appropriate set of features: Standard Image (SI) features for WS-C2950-12
and WS-C2950-24, and Enhanced Image (EI) features for WS-C2950C-24,
WS-C2950T-24, WS-C2950G-12-EI, WS-C2950G-24-EI, WS-C2950G-24-EI-DC and
WS-C2950G-48-EI. So im my understanding of that (correct me if I'm wrong),
No, you cant just upgrade the hardware to EI features. Hope this helps,
