What is your favorite auction place? I need to pick up some ATM modules.
I have:
1-2950
1-3550
2-2611s
3-3640s (long term loaners from customers)
1-2621
1-3620
Thanks,
Darrell Burnett

Subject: OT:POLL on home labs (was RE: Internetwork Expert Upcoming Workbook
(Some thoughts))
A large part of the topology design for our upcoming workbook
took three things into account: the ability to adapt to new logical
topologies, the ability to cover all the topics within the scope of the
CCIE lab, and the ability of people to replicate the setup. While the
hardware requirements may seem intimidating at first, it can be
replicated at a fairly reasonable price with a little smart shopping.
For example, our R4 and R5 are 2611's with a WIC-1T, WIC-1BU,
and 64/16 of memory. Current going prices on our favorite auction site
are:
2611 16/64: $700
WIC-1BU: $40
WIC-1T: $50
So it'd be about $800 for the verbatim setup for this particular
device. Now, assuming you have a switch that can trunk .1q, you really
only need 1 Ethernet since you can create any other ones as trunk
interfaces. So now let's drop 2611 down to 2610, which is about half
the price. This brings it down to about $500 now. Another alternative
is a 4500M with NP-2T, NP-2E, and NP-4BU which should total less than
$500. We're going to be putting a detailed document like this together
proposing alternatives for equipment setups for our workbook, as well as
having rack rentals through ourselves and other vendors to support it.
The real reason I'm replying to this thread though is that I'd
like to know what you guys (the group in general) have in your home
labs. What is your equipment list, and how much have you spent in
total?
