So I guess you plan to get the CCIE without buying the Caslow/Pavlichenko
book, or Jeff Doyle's books, or Halabi's book.
Yes, it is probably possible to achieve CCIE without using any sources other
than Cisco's website, but you would be making it harder for yourself than it
needs to be.
Books and lab scenario workbooks and CCIE boot camps teach valuable lessons,
and many of us have found these resources to be very valuable. Bruce Caslow
and Val Pavlichenko apply an analytical, issue-spotting, approach to CCIE
lab preparation that I found very helpful. I already was comfortable with
that approach from law school, but their book made it clear that the same
approach applied equally well in CCIE Lab preparation.
There is a lot that these "secondary" sources have to offer that you may not
find on www.cisco.com, even though it is, IMHO, the greatest website on
Earth.
