What IOS version?
I've used secondary IP w/RIP v1 to solve discontinuous
subnetting issues at class boundaries but would advise
caution with this as you double the amount of RIP
updates per interface when you do this. If you have a
large network you could have problems with your "less
robust" routers keeping up.
Sounds like an IOS bug/limitation to me though??
