Two questions in one here. Sorry in advance if this is vague, no lab in
front of me right now.
I'm referring to the NMC DoIT scenario 3 if you have that.
Question 1: What is IETF frame-relay encapsulation required for
back-to-back frame relay connections. This involves making one router a
switch, advertising a DLCI via the interface-dlci command, and mapping
to a non-existant DLCI from one end (switch) to the other end (F/R
client), which is in turn accepted even though the DLCI is ignored.
Cisco encapsulation breaks this.
Question 2: Can anyone explain why a p2p sub works in the following
scenario and why a P2M sub does not? I thought frame-relay was the
least of my worries, but I sure did get stumped for a while on this.
Although it makes sense, I'm not sure exactly why you can't use a
interface-dlci command on the R2,R4 spokes. Only P2M with maps will
work.
I have both scenarios working, but I'm irritated that I don't fully
understand why. I'm not clueless on it, but I'll bet some of you could
make me have a revelation :)
Any clarity is appreciated, as my research isn't turning up much. On
question 2, the configuration as is on R1 is required.
Thanks in advance for the help :)

Does anyone have a keyboard mapping file for Securecrt. I keep getting
nailed on the backspace and delete keys in SecureCRT.

their great feedback. With all the choices and recommendations I now
have I'm sure which way I'll go but for now I'll use SecureCRT just to
get used to it for the exam until my 30 day eval period is over.
Thanks again, dt
