Hi group,
I have a WS -C3550-24-SMI connected with a 1000BaseCX Gigastack card to
WS-C3524-XL, at the current time link1 on the card from the 3550
connects to link2 of the 3500, link1 of the 3500 links back to the 3550
on link2. Both links on the 3500 show as up, link2 on the 3550 shows up
as "is redundant link". Both are operating at half duplex, I understand
that in this type of configuration, it is simply not possible to operate
at full duplex, which is what I've been trying to do.
So I removed the 2nd cable from the connection leaving just link2 from
the 3550 to link1 on the 3500. this is not enough to get it to work. I
physically set the duplex on the 3500 to full (there's no duplex option
on the 3550) It appeared to work (both sides of the connection showed as
up & full duplex), but couldn't ping across. The client was breathing
over my neck & people were calling him like crazy, I eventually put
things back the way they were.
I've included my config & a debug I did, plus I heard somewhere that I
might have to play with "flowcontrol", but I'm not sure what to
configure, please help!
They're both in VLAN1
Cat3550(config-if)#flowcontrol ?
receive Configure receiving flow operation
send Configure sending flow operation
cat3550(config-if)#flowcontrol receive ?
desired Allow but do not require flow-control packets on port
off Disable flow-control packets on port
on Enable flow-control packets on port
3500(config-if)#flowcontrol ?
asymmetric Allow asymmetric flowcontrol (pause towards link partner)
only
symmetric Allow symmetric flowcontrol only
