Peng,
By default a Cisco router running RIP will send updates as
version 1, and listen for version 1 and version 2 updates. When you
configure the 'version 1' command under the RIP process, this instructs
the router to send and listen for only version 1 updates on all
interfaces running RIP. When you configure the 'version 2' command
under the RIP process, this instructs the router to send and listen for
only version 2 updates on all interfaces running RIP. The interface
level 'ip rip send' and 'ip rip receive' commands will override what is
configured at the process level. To check what a router is sending and
receiving on a particular interface, use the privilege level command
'show ip protocols'
Rack2R3#sh ip protocols | b "rip"
Routing Protocol is "rip"
