On a Cisco 2500 that is functioning properly with max
mem/flash you do not need to change the confreg to
upgrade the image.
when you enter the "copy tftp flash" command it will
ask for tftp server address then source image name
then destination image name. After that it will
verify that it can talk to the tftp server and that
the image is there. After that it will prompt to
erase the flash (which it does). Then it prompts you
that it needs to reboot before the image is uploaded.
The router reboots and the new image is copied from
the tftp server to flash, then another reboot. System
confreg is 0x2102 still.
I did 6 of these in a row and didn't need to change
the confreg on any of them.
So... was this a case maybe where there was 8Mb flash
and a compressed image?? or maybe a 10/half network
with tons of collisions bagging out the tftp copy??
