does that mean the "ip router isis" command under an interface will inject a
route into the isis database depending on the IS-type of the router instead
of the interface circuit-type ?

the neighborship level does not change the level of the routes...
if a route exists in the isis level-2 database of a router and
you define the circuit-type of 1 between 2 routers,
route will still be in the L2 database on both routers and will
not be visible on the neighboring router.(since it is an L1 neighbor)
but you can use
router isis
redistribute isis ip level-2 into level-1 distribute-list 100
this will make the router gointo the level-1 isis db of the neighboring
router.

Hi,
It seems the subnet still exist in L2 database even I make the interface as
level-1 only. Am I missing anything ?
Below is my configuration :
router isis

interface Ethernet0
ip address 136.10.40.4 255.255.255.0
ip router isis
isis circuit-type level-1 <====================
end

interface Serial0.1 point-to-point
ip address 136.10.24.4 255.255.255.248
ip router isis

class FRTS_R4
isis metric 30 level-2
end
