Hey Gary,

For switching concepts, nothing is better than Kennedy's book from Cisco
Press, Cisco Lan Switching. It covers just about everything you need to
understand about switching technology. But, for the actual commands to
enter on the 3550, I suggest you just go to the source (cisco) and print out
the whole Catalyst 3550 Multilayer Switch Software Configuration Guide.
Then read it cover to cover but focusing on the basics like configuring
etherchannels, config trunking, config vtp, config system admin, config STP,
port security, etc. Once you've got the concepts down and are familiar with
the basic configuration commands, buy some 3550 practice labs and rent some
rack time. If you do this, you'll not feel switches are your weakness.

Just my 2 cents. dt

I've got a good background in Routers, but havent gotten my feet to wet in
switching...

there's still lots for me to cover in routers that I'm not comfortable with,
but they seem like a lot less of a mountain to climb. My switching abilities
are almost embarrassing, funny since most people who play with switches say
that there much easier than routers...
