- Hemant,

You may find that your questions
should be focused on what the Cisco
  CallManager and related IP Telephony
  applications offer you.

  But. . .

  1) The ICS 7750 (G2) is a solid IPT
     hardware platform from which to
run many of the Cisco AVVID
     applications on.

     Cisco AVVID applications are still
     maturing; meaning that there have
been some entertaining times in the
past - and will continue as features
keep being added to the software.

The most common complaint from our
     clients is the constant upgrading
for feature X, or to protect against
bug Y. But to be fair, all of the
Win2K based IP PBX - Voice Mail - ICD
systems share this fate right now.

The second most common complaint is
     finding a global management partners.
"I want one number to call from start
to finish. . ." Regional management
companies for IPT gear aren't so hard
     to find. . .

  2) It's an intuitive web based system
     with many training options available
     for engineers and administrators.

  3) See point one above.

  4) Depends on the features and the type
of install. If you have a existing
facility with a PABX in the first
year of a lease versus a new facility
your ROI is very different; talk to
your local Cisco team to get a ROI
analysis performed. IPT at new sites
     is attractive as data infrastructure
has to be acquired either way.

  5) I am interpreting this as "can I tell
that this thing is IP packets versus
TDM" and the answer is no (qualified
by saying / using the G.711 codec).

  6) Octel integration is fairly mapped out,
     remembering that many Cisco offices
were (and some still are) migrating
to Cisco Unity from Octel; but you may
want to talk to your local Cisco team
about the integration type and how
you will accomplish this as the option
you choose (i.e. PCI based T1 board)
could be hard to fit in a ICS box. . .

  Hope this "non-compensated" opinion helps.

Subject: Cisco ICS 7750 experiences

Hi all,

I just wanted to get some feedback on your experiences with Cisco ICS 7750
(VOIP box).

Does it work well? Any know problems?
How easy is it to setup?
What maintaintence is required?
Cost compared to normal PABX.
VOIP quality?
How well does it interface with legacy voicemail system (We have Octal250).
We have voicemail system on the main site; can we use this voicemail for
these remote users.

We are planning to install this in one of our new remote site with 70 Users.

Any comments, tips, suggestion etc will be very much appreciated.

Thank you all in advance

Hemant
