Ken,
Try unchecking TCP/IP on your network adapters configuration. It looks
like W2K is trying IP first, rather than NetBEUI. With NT4, you could pick
the order it would try in the bindings tab. Doesn't look like W2K lets you
choose. In fact, XP doesn't even do NetBEUI (unless you buy a resource
kit). MS wants NetBEUI to die, from what I can tell. Since their IP can
now autoconfigure with a 169.254.x.x address, no reason at all for NB.

in other words, can you configure two PCs without TCP/IP and share the
resources of eath of them if they are on the same LAN. Once I have the same
LAN sorted, I can start to try and bridge it :)))))
many thx in advance,
Ken

Hello,
I am tryng to test Netbeui with two laptops on a cat5505 switch running
win2k on the same LAN. Thing is, when I sniff this, and one PC does a
NBQUERY for say "ILOVEARSENAL", it uses UDP. UDP is routable????
I need to get this working so that I can test bridging. Also, you have to
configure TCP/IP for windows file/print sharing under win2k. Why? if it
uses non-routable Netbeui? Is there a windows expert around?
Do you have to use Win95 and Win98 to get the results described in the ccie
pratical studies book for NetBeui?
Many thx
