RIPv2 Auto-summary.

Dear all,

   In the ISO 12.2 Configuration Guide, it writes:

   "Automatic summary will override the configured summary address feature on a given interface except when both of the following conditions are true:

1. The configured interface summary address and the IP address of the configured interface share the same major network (the classful, nonsubnetted portion of the IP address).
2. Split horizon is not enabled on the interface."

   I just wonder if "1" is true, then the automatic summary route should not be advertised because automatic summary route only will be created across the major network boundary. Why we need "2"? Anything I am wrong?
