I just did a quick search on CCO to verify, here is a quote from a page on
using CAR during DOS Attacks for 12.2: "In order to enable CAR, Cisco
Express Forwarding (CEF) must be enabled on the box, and the interface
configured for CAR must be a CEF-switched interface." I also saw similar
statements in some release 11.1 notes:
