Hi IPExpert moonlighters on GroupStudy,
I'm trying to figure out why the route 172.16.15.0 doesn't show twice in R3's
route table - once from R1 and once from R5. Actually, I know why - it's
because R3 sees 172.16.15.0 from R5 as having a lower cost than from R1. But
why should that be? I haven't changed the cost of 172.16.15.0 anywhere in the
network.
Anybody have any ideas why the cost from R3 to 172.16.15.0 isn't equal from
both R5 and R1?
This lab also raised a second issue. In the instructions, it said to
"Configure R6 to advertise 10.2.0.0/18. Other than R6, only R5 should have an
entry for 10.2.0.0/18"
To fulfill this requirement, I filtered 10.2.0.0/18 on R3 and R1 using a
distribute-in command. This seemed to work fine but the IPExpert solution
achieves the same result by using the "distance 255 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.255 1"
command along with "access-list 1 permit 0.0.0.0 255.255.192.0".
My question is this. Are both solutions equal or are there reasons to use one
over the other?
Thanks, Raj
