I agree wholeheartedly. Get good practice scenarios and a good practice lab
(or rent a huge batch of sessions on a good rental rack), and go crazy.
When you want a break from working on the routers, read the 12.2 IOS config
guides and command reference volumes. Find a set on ebay, order a set under
a Smartnet contract, or use the CD version. You need to get really good at
dealing with the CD, but I find that printed volumes are better for
exploring and learning. Just get very familiar with the documentation. The
IOS documentation is your friend in the Lab.
Above all, decide that you WILL pass, and that is it only a matter of a
another try or two.
