I faced the same problem twice sometimes ago.
It was solved in two different ways:
1- Once OSPF was not able to put the summary address in the routing table due to a ver. problem. U better use 12.1 (5) or later.
2- The second time, due to the fact that OSPF advertise the summary route into all areas but area 0 "the one used in the summary command", u will need to be sure that yr router is an ABR (has at least one interface in another area). Then the summary address will be added to yr routing table.

area 0 itself.
maybe you can create a Loopback in another area on R2?
