In the Cisco world, trunk and channeling are different. Channeling is
bonding while trunking is carrying multiple VLANs on a single link
through tagging, encapsulation, etc. But in the rest of the networking
world outside of Cisco, trunking refers to bonding channels, i.e.
etherchannel. So you have to be careful when integrating Cisco gear
with other vendors, as the terminology can overlap but mean different
things........
So when Brian mentions 802.3ad, he's correct in saying that it is the
standard for trunking, because to the entire network world except Cisco,
channeling IS called trunking.
