Optimizing your preparations through a study partner (inquiry)

All,

First post but I've probably been on this list longer than most. I ran
cheaplab for a while there and remember some digital correspondence w/
Chuck Church when he was going into his 1st attempt. I remember his
comment was something to the effect that he had fun w/ some OSPF stuff,
cool dude he is, I appreciate his mentoring on the list.

To the point...

One of my peers recently passed his written exam. I myself took my
first attempt over two years ago, sat a second attempt this past January
and am shooting for a third, and hopefully final, attempt in mid
December.

I have read the successful posts of others about the efficacy of a study
partner and would like some solid (non-ephemeral) dialogue from those
who have used one and can QUANTIFIABLY outline their method of study.
<--This is not an NDA-related question.

For example:

I have found the following helpful:

1) My study buddy and I define a topic (or set of topics) we'll
focus on for a specific period of time. We work from Layer 1 up, like
Caslow recommends, and we exhaust the topic. We validate that we have
covered it sufficient to our perceived needs by labbing all day, twice a
month, and then we move on.

2) We check on each other to see how our study schedules have
gone, expecting the other to put in atleast 2-4 hours a day so we'll
maximize the potential to benefit collectively.

Anyways, I hope this hasn't been a waste. I'm not so much interested in
the content, technically, as I am the process of optimizing the study
partner.

Thanks,
Jt
