I usually like to think of it like this, in some instances you are taking a network and injecting it into a protocol twice if you already have that network configured within a protocol, or already being redistributed into a protocol. Based on that, I always use a route map when redistributing connected, and only use it when I have to.

I have noticed that the effects of redistribution depend on IOS version
and platform.
