Hi Hossam,
Thanx a lot. That was exactly what I was looking for.
So IF it is just the summary you want to leak out then you have to summarize
on all ABR's
Great. Thanx again.
Mohit.

Subject: Re: OSPF- Area range!!!!!!
Mohit,
I think that we have two different cases here. First for area 0 and second
for other areas.
In the begining let us agree on a general rule. when u command the router to
area x range summary
then u are instructing the router to
* send the summery to all other areas connected to the router.
* Suppress the detailed routes from all other areas connected to the
router.
Note this command has nothing to do with Area x itself.
For Area zero:
To make sure that the summary is propagated to all areas,
We have to summarize on all ABRs we have. Even in case we have a single area
connected to the backbone via multiple ABRs. This is to ensure suppressing
the detailed routes from getting inside the area via other ABRs.
Otherwise, we will end out with having both the summary and detailed routes
propagated in the meant area.
For Other Areas:
To make sure that ONLY the summary route is propageted to area 0 and then to
athor areas then we have to summarries on all ABRs connected to area x.
Otherwise, we can summarries on only one ABR. But this will again leave us
with both the summary and detailed routes.
I hope this helps.

HI all,
When summarizing a network from an ospf area to another, is it
necessary/important to specify this range on all the ABR's??
Would it not suffice just to put the command on one ABR???
What difference does it make??
M Really confused??
Thanx for helping.
MFG,
Mohit.
