Changing the default OSPF network type for a Loopback interface

Hi,

What's the reason or benefit of changing the ospf network type for a loopback
interface from it's default to a point to point?

I realize that if the network type is not changed then OSPF will install a
host route in the routing table, but so what? Are there any circumstances
where not changing the network type will cause routing problems?

Thanks, Jim
