Hi Connie,

Do you mean your router is connect to the Fas 0/4 port?

I have tried and success before for the IGMP filtering in 3550, but I apply
the filter to the port where the PC connected, not the router.

This filter is to permit/deny certain group so that user cannot access, by
filter out IGMP join request only, as the 3550 configurtion guide mentions
(11-20):

"IGMP filtering controls only IGMP membership join requests and has no
relationship with the function that directs the forwarding of multicast
traffic. The filtering feature operates in the same manner whether CGMP or
MVR is used to forward the multicast traffic"

So it seems no effect to router which generate multicast traffic. Would you
please try apply this filter to the PC port?

Thx,

Has anyone played with IGMP filter on 3550? I would like to hear your
experience with it. I have been trying to make it work in the past 2 days,
but with no luck. The configuration is fairly straight forward:

IGMP Profile 10
    range 229.0.0.13 229.0.0.13

interface FastEthernet0/4
 switchport access vlan 50
 switchport mode access
 no ip address
 ip igmp filter 10

But on the router that is connected to the port where 229.0.0.13 membership
report is supposed to be blocked, I still see membership report for
229.0.0.13, as well as mroute entry. I tried this on dense and sparse mode
configuration, same result.

Any thoughts?

Thank you very much for your help.

Connie
