HI All,
I thought its better to give an illustration-
unit8#sh ip bgp
BGP table version is 1, local router ID is 135.1.8.8
Status codes: s suppressed, d damped, h history, * valid, > best, i -
internal
Origin codes: i - IGP, e - EGP, ? - incomplete
Network Next Hop Metric LocPrf Weight Path
* i200.200.200.0 135.1.116.2 0 100 0 ?
unit8#ping 135.1.116.2
Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 135.1.116.2, timeout is 2 seconds:
!!!!!
Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 56/59/60 ms
unit8#sh ip ro 200.200.200.0

unit8#sh ip bgp 200.200.200.0
BGP routing table entry for 200.200.200.0/24, version 0
Paths: (1 available, no best path)
Not advertised to any peer
Local

Origin incomplete, metric 0, localpref 100, valid, internal, not
synchrond
Originator: 135.1.6.6, Cluster list: 135.1.10.10

In the above case, the synchronization is ON, the router also learns the
route thru ospf and also is able to ping the next hop, however it still
denotes the prefix as not synchronised.
Is there any way to make BGP advertise this prefix without disabling sync??
Thanks as always,
Mohit.

Subject: BGP and synchronization.
HI All,
I m sure this is one of the most talked about topics in BGp.
I just want to confirm that while running, BGP and ospf, the rule of
synchronization states that BGP would not advertise the route untill it
learns the same route thru IGP (ospf in this case). In addition I also heard
that with ospf the route learned should have the ""same"""next hop(only in
case of ospf), or BGP will still not advertise the route.
Can somebody please comment on this or provide an useful link.
Thanks as always.
Mohit.
