   I don't think one is so much better than the other, you can configure
one side of a PVC the old way and the other side the new way and it
works fine. The main concern may be if you use the old style and Cisco
eventually drops support for it and you upgrade, your config is no
longer valid!

   I would guess the lab uses the newer style.
